Obedience Classes and Puppy Socialization
at Pet Orphans Rescue Facility in VAN NUYS, CA
What good is perfect behavior in the classroom if the minute you step outside, your dog jumps up to greet everyone and forgets to come when you call?
It’s important to be able to take what you learn in class and apply it to day-to-day life—Which is why we teach not just the behaviors, but the principles that make them work, and how to apply those when faced with challenging environments.
Develop a closer bond with your Canine Kids while helping support Pet Orphans Rescue financially.
Puppy Socialization shapes how a dog views and responds to other dogs, people, sights and sounds in his environment. It is a critical learning component that must be addressed in puppyhood to raise a behaviorally healthy and social dog. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) state that their standard of care is for puppies to receive the benefits of early socialization before they are fully vaccinated. Incomplete or improper socialization during this critical period can create life-long behavioral problems, which are a much greater risk than the minimal risk of infection due to exposure. If puppies are not socialized, they may fear new things in their environment for the rest of their lives. The result? Fearful dogs are unhappy, antisocial, highly stressed and are quick to react with fearful aggression. Don’t let this happen to your dog! Enroll in classes today!

Private In Home Training
Behaviorists vs Training
It’s hard to find time for dog training and exercise even though it should be a part of our everyday routine. Families are often pulled apart because of the behavior of their dog. A trainer not only has to help the dog but also help the family understand what is required to get everyone on the same page.
Behavioral Training is different from teaching a dog basic obedience. How we work is understanding the action or reaction to your dogs behavior. If you don’t know why a dog is behaving a certain way it is unlikely you can help, so it is imperative we get to know the dog to understand why they are behaving a certain way. Then we must develop a strategy to change the way the dog behaves using a combination of dog psychology and positive re-enforcement training. Understanding both is the key to tackling difficult problem behaviors and have a lasting change in your dogs behavior.
Basic Obedience and proper leash etiquette is the start of you and your dogs relationship. It is the very foundation of mutual trust. You will learn how to communicate with your dog so he will want to mind you. This will enable you to understand everyday behaviors, control your dog in uncontrollable situations and help you become the ultimate pack leader.
The evaluation is an opportunity for you to get to know us, as well as for us to understand your needs as a dog owner. Private In-home Sessions
Benefit of using our private training over group classes: one-on-one instruction, your energy is always in check by your trainer, questions answered immediately, no distractions until the dog is ready, a detailed summary of follow up exercises and handout of tips and homework. In home sessions are usually to work on very specific problems. Examples are listed below.
Dogs are often overwhelmed in group classes causing the dog to be overstimulated and the owner to get frustrated. Dogs that have specific behavioral issues such as the issues listed below need instruction in the home first before they can pursue group training.
Puppies need to start training as soon as possible and many need group classes for their basics and for proper socialization. See our Group Classes.
I offer an introductory session that last around 2 hours. The information covered is a case by case basis. It could be potty training, walking on a leash, behavioral issues such as aggression or anxiety and how to give your dog boundaries, just to name a few.

|Don’t see a package to suit your needs or price range? Don’t worry. We customize packages for customers to get the best deal for your needs!A trainer must be able to pull out different training techniques depending on the dog and family. This is where it can get tricky. Trainers must identify the personality and drive of the dog to determine the best method.A good trainer concentrates on each individual dogs needs, not just a specific approach.|
